Ryanair is a low-cost airline with headquarters located in Swords, Dublin, Ireland. Along with easyJet, since its foundation in 1984, the company has become one of the world's busiest airlines, a far cry from the days when it operated just a single route. Now, the airline operates more than 1,800 flights every day, with its main hubs of operation situated in Dublin Airport and London Stansted Airport, plus additional bases in 80 different countries. To handle its vast operations, the airline employs over 10,000 staff. Ryanair flights use the airline's fleet of more than 300 Boeing 737 aircraft.
The company operates flights to nearly 200 different European destinations. Some of Ryanair's main destinations include Berlin, Athens and Budapest, where the airline has also established bases. Ryanair flights to Marrakech, Brussels and Hamburg are also popular. The company does not operate any codeshares and is not a member of any alliances. It is also able to boast 31-year-long unblemished safety record.
Online check-in
Passengers on a Ryanair flight are encouraged to check in online, with those that have purchased seats able do so 30 days prior to departure at the earliest and 2 hours before departure at the latest. Passengers who have not bought a seat can check in online starting from 7 days before their flight's departure up until 2 hours before departure. All passengers can also check in either on Ryanair's website or by using the company's app. Passengers who do not check in online will be charged a fee to check in at the airport. This fee is not applicable to Business Plus passengers.
Hand luggage allowance
Each passenger on a Ryanair flight is allowed 1 item of hand luggage up to 55 x 40 x 20 cm in size and 1 smaller bag up to 35 x 20 x 20 cm. The maximum weight for hand luggage is 10 kg. If there's not enough room for all of a passengers hand baggage, they may be asked to have their items carried in the hold. Those passengers who have paid for Priority Boarding will not be asked to do so. Infants travelling on an adult's lap have no cabin baggage allowance. Any hand luggage that exceeds the maximum size or wait will have to be placed in the hold, with an additional fee liable to be paid.
Checked baggage policy
If passengers want to take checked baggage on a Ryanair flight they should pay for it at the same time as they make their booking, and can purchase either a 15 kg or a 20 kg allowance. Passengers deciding later to take checked baggage on their flight can add this option online until 2 hours before take off. If checked baggage weighs more than the paid-for allowance, Ryanair will charge a fee. Passengers with a Business Plus ticket are entitled to up to 20 kg of checked luggage without charge. Multiple passengers travelling on a single booking may share their checked baggage allowance, however, no single item of checked baggage may weight more than 32 kg or be larger than 81 x 119 x 119 cm.
